Nikhil Gopalani disclosed that a “clever phisher” stole his NFT collection.
Nikhil Gopalani, chief operating officer of RTFKT, begins the New Year with an empty crypto wallet.
RTFKT is the enormously profitable next-generation crypto brand acquired by Nike in December 2021, which is making waves in the digital wearables industry and collaborated with Takashi Murakami to produce content. Monday, Gopalani lost his vast treasure trove of NFTs to a scammer in what appears to have been a phishing attack.
Cardillo refuted a claim that his response was “very corporate” and suggested that a legal inquiry may be underway, writing on Twitter that “a lawful agency” needed to be able to “do an investigation properly” as the reason why further details could not be shared.
Since his wallet was emptied a day ago, CloneX #17088, which remains Gopalani’s Twitter profile picture, has already changed hands twice. The NFT is presently owned by the holder of lyx.eth, who also owns two more CloneX NFTs.

lyx.eth stated that they were unaware they were purchasing the COO’s stolen NFT and had been searching for an NFT similar to Gopalani’s for “over half a year.”
Lyx says that RTFKT has already tried to get the stolen NFT back by reaching out.
“I’ve been talking with some people from RTFKT but I need to think about what to do,” Lyx told.
When asked if he might sell or return the NFT, Lyx responded that he was uncertain. “Def going to hold it for now,” they said.
