One of the biggest and most glamorous virtual fashion events, Metaverse Fashion Week, is coming to the Decentraland. The event will be hosted in collaboration with luxury marketplace, UNXD.
The four-day virtual event, which was recently announced in a tweet by Decentraland, will take place between March 24 to March 27 2022. The event will feature an array of different immersive experiences for its viewers, from catwalk shows and showcases, to pop up shops and after parties. Whilst viewing runaway presentations, the event will also allow viewers to interact with one each other to discuss all things vogue, as well as purchase virtual garments and accessories for their online avatars.
This will not be the first virtual fashion endeavour by Polygon-based UNXD, as they were the hosts of the historic inaugural NFT collection from Dolce & Gabbana. It will also not be the first fashion-infused activity within the Decentraland metaverse, as the metaverse hosts a virtual ‘Fashion Street District’, where in November, a 6,090 square-foot parcel of virtual land was sold to a subsidiary of crypto-investment company Token.com for $2.4 million.
Token.com later revealed that the virtual real estate will be used as a place for fashion brands to advertise, host fashion shows, and set-up e-commerce storefronts on, all whilst being staffed by virtual staff members.
It is exciting times for those interested in events which fuse the metaverse with the fashion, as respective fashion week organizers themselves, such as the Council of Fashion Designers of America to the French Fashion Federation, are expected to begin launching entirely virtual elements within their otherwise physical campaigns and events.
