One of the things that NFT holders are constantly on high alert about is the possibility of phishing. Unfortunately, this is something that has happened to NFTs of all rarity levels. Now, Dan Finlay, the founder of MetaMask, is helping NFT holders to combat this issue with a new tool called MobyMask.
How This Tool Helps NFTs
Announced on November 15, 2022, and in partnership with the Laconic Network, this tool helps both individuals and organisations easily access a copy of the MobyMask anti-phishing registry. By having a copy of this registry, it will be much easier to avoid known phishers.
While the tool is still in its early stages, the official announcement teases that more developments will be coming soon.
“The current version of MobyMask focuses on twitter phishing, but eventually will expand to any kind of phishing, like websites, smart contracts, and new social media platforms,” it said.
But given the fact that Twitter is a major source of phishing schemes, with official accounts even being hacked to perpetuate them, this is a good place to start. Also, given how many NFTs are lost to phishing schemes each year, a tool like this is very much needed for the industry.
