The iconic American comedy duo, Abbott and Costello, can now make us laugh on the blockchain, thanks to a fascinating collection of NFTs. The project works with an exclusive license from the estates of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello via Unforgettable Licensing and is presented by Power Up NFTs. The NFT collection is “Who’s on First,” named after the comedy duo’s famous “Who’s on First” routine. There is a total of 8,791 NFTs up for grabs, and the drop will happen on October 28th.
An Abbott and Costello NFT collection is here
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were an extremely popular comedy duo for over twenty years. In fact, they worked together from 1935 – 1957. During this time, the pair had massive success across radio, film, and television. Their routine, “Who’s on First?” is Time magazine’s ‘best comedy routine of the 20th century.’
Now, Abbott and Costello have their own collection of 8,791 NFTs, which are still images from a famous routine. In 1951, on an episode of The Colgate Comedy Hour, the pair performed an iconic six-minute sketch. Now, the routine is what makes up the NFT collection.
Because the NFTs are each individual still images from a 1951 TV show, they are not crystal clear. However, this only adds to the historic nature of the NFTs, and the realism they offer.
The first 500 NFTs will be 0.1 ETH (~$133.77) and the following 500 are available for 0.125 ETH (~$167.22).
The iconic comedy duo will live forever on the blockchain
“I’m delighted that the “Who’s On First” legacy lives on with over 50 million YouTube views,” said Chris Costello, daughter of Lou Costello, “And now, in addition to being enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, the routine will be forever preserved as NFTs.”
Significantly, the release of the Abbott and Costello NFTs coincides with the first game of the 2022 World Series of Baseball – a nod to the origin of the legendary “Who’s on First” routine.
